He is a mentioned antagonist in The Curse of The Black Pearl, the secondary antagonist in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, the main antagonist in Pirates of Caribbean: At World's End, a posthumous antagonist in On Stanger Tides, and Dead Men Tell No Tales respectively. He was granted the title of Lord at some point before assuming Port Royal as his base of operations. Cutler Beckett is the central antagonist of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
